The town of Nessebar is one of the oldest towns in Europe. It is the successor of the ancient Thracian settlement called Mesembria founded in the Second century B.C. Since XI century the Slav name Messebar or Nessebar has been used together with the original name Mesembria.
The town is situated on a small rocky peninsula in the North part of the Bourgas bay. The long coastline and its diversity character create favourable conditions for exciting living. Nowadays, Nessebar is one of the most popular resorts among the tourists for its ancient spirit and well-preserved remains. Designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sight in 1983, the tiny town attracts thousands of visitors yearly.

Location: On the southern Black Sea Coast, 37 km north of Bourgas and the International Airport. It takes 3,5 hours by road from Istanbul and 5 hours from Athens to reach this heavenly spot.
History: According to legends, the churches of Nessebar were no less than 41, which, when compared to the small population of the town, make the latter one of the world's settlements with the highest number of churches per capita.
